Case Study : FlappyTwit Messaging Service

 

FlappyTwit is your real-time short message service.  If you are a popular user on this service, you will have lots of ‘followers’ and also you can ‘follow’ any user on this platform.  As a user, you can send ‘tweets’ and view yours and  ‘follow’ users tweets. The application is built on HBase and we use Map Reduce (MR) to analyze batch offline user data.

 

You are given 2 datasets; they are small- ‘FlappyTwit-small.txt’ and large – ‘FlappyTwitFollowing2009.txt’ and ‘FlappyTwitFollowing2013.txt’ folders on ‘FlappyTwit’folder respectively.

 

Small Dataset: This data set contains tab-separated tuples, of userid, username, following users, top 5 tweets and placeholder for ‘count’ of no of tweets. Use small dataset for questions 1 and 2

 

Large Dataset: This dataset contains tab-separated tuples of userid and following users on FlappyTwit on years 2009 and 2013. Use large dataset for questions 3,4,and 5.
